Switzerland to Help in Reconstructing Damaged Structures

Switzerland wants to reconstruct the structure destroyed by earthquake that were build in its support. It has also expressed its interest in constructing other structures as well.

Foreign Aid Coordinatior Madhu Marasini from Ministry of Finance informed that discussion is going on for the Switzerland's interest. He said that Switzerland have given the data of destroyed structures that were built by them. Switzerland constructed more that 6000 suspension bridges out of them 691 are in dilapidated conditon and must rebuild immediately. Similarly, more than 4 hundred miles of rural roads should also be rebuild immediately. Swiss Embasyy will also help in constructing government building, cheese factory and distribute seeds to more than 45 VDC for around 30,000 families.

"We are always ready to support in the development of Nepal. We have much more plans and projects to spread in Nepal, many are in progress, "the Swiss Embassy deputy said. Switzerland have deep love for Nepal. We want to work for rebuilding Nepal with hand to hand with government. "He also informed that as soon as the monsoon is over, we will start our works.

Switzerland's famous geographer Tony Hagen established a special relationship between Nepal and Swizerland. In 1950 Hagen was in Nepal for the first time for developing cooperation with Nepal, many projects constructed by the campaign plan of Hagen are deastroyed by earthquake. He also trekked in many part of Nepal and researched in geographical and cultural aspects as well.

Deputy chief of Swiss Embassy also expressed his view to bring Jiri, the place compared to Zurich of Switzerland in its previous state. "Dolakha,, Gorkha, Sindhuli, Okhaldhunga and Ramechhap are in priority," he said, "Nepal is a touristic country. We should give positive message by going in immediate rebuild. "He also mentioned to support in promotion of tourism, including the rebuilding of archaelogical heritages.

Switzerland commited to provide Rs 2 billion 50 million for reconstruction in the donor conference. Before that Switzerland helped us with Rs 50 million for rescue and relief. Now we will provide the seeds of around 10 million Rs to the farmers and give training for building earthquake resistant homes.
