Seventeen #international and five Nepali #mountaineers were felicitated by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) and#Nepal_Tourism_Board (NTB), at a program on June 26, 2015, at Nepal Tourism Board. The international mountaineers were recognized as Goodwill Ambassadors of Nepal and Honorary Public Relations Representatives (HPRR) of NTB for a period of two years. Similarly, Nepali mountaineers were recognized as Honorary Mountain #TourismGoodwill Ambassadors of Nepal for a period of two years. Mountaineers who were to be felicitated and representatives of those who could not attend were at the program.The program was chaired by Hon’ble Minister for Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation Mr. Kripasur Sherpa.
Secretary of the Minister of #Culture, Tourism & Civil #Aviation Mr. Suresh Man Shrestha, Administrative Chief of NTB Mr. Ramesh Kumar Adhikari, Members of NTB Executive Committee, high-level Government officials, Tourism Association chiefs and members of the travel trade and media were also present at the program.#Everest_Summiteer and mountaineer from Vienna, Austria, Prof. Wolfgang Nairz, among the members felicitated as Goodwill Ambassadors of Nepal, committed to disseminating positive information and promoting Nepal as a safe and beautiful destination. Prof. Nairz, who had just come back from a visit to Mustang with a team of friends, appreciated the beauty of Mustang and assured there were no problems on the trip. Prof. Nairz said Nepal was good and safe for travel.Meanwhile, Minister Mr. Sherpa said damages of the April 25 earthquake was limited to a few trekking areas and heritage sites of #Kathmandu Valley, and requested the newly appointed Goodwill Ambassadors to spread the word that “Nepal is safe for visit”.
He also hoped for softening of travel advisories from Nepal tourism’s source markets to gain back the confidence of travelers and said the best way to help #Nepal would be to visit Nepal. Similarly, high-level officials from the Government and NTB reiterated the positive role of Goodwill Ambassadors in helping Nepal’s tourism recover at present. The program was held as a part of series of events to revive and recover the tourism industry of Nepal after the earthquake.

Everest & Seven Summits Summiteer; Mrs. Lhakpa Sherpa, Sixth-time Everest #Summiteer; Ms. Sailee Basnet, Team Leader of Mt. Everest & Seven Summits Women Team.Most of the credentials were collected on their behalf by their representatives.
