Vice President Mr. Andrew Jones and Crisis Expert Mr. Bert Van Walbeek from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Headquarters in Bangkok were in Pokhara, on June 21, 2015, to present a Tourism Recovery Plan to the Government, NTB, and private sector tourism officials. The recovery plan was drafted in consultation with tourism workers and experts from across the world, with strategies for fast recovery of Nepal tourism in the next couple months. Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) Mr. Kripasur Sherpa committed to the implementation of the recommendations for tourism recovery presented by PATA.
At the interaction session Chairman of the Development Committee of Parliament of Constituent Assembly Mr. Rabindra Adhikari, Vice President of PATA Mr. Jones, PATA’s Crisis Expert Mr. Walbeek and Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter Mr. Suman Pandey jointly reviewed the effort made by PATA in Nepal’s tourism recovery effort. A similar interaction session with a presentation was also held in Kathmandu where PATA officials Mr. Jones and Mr. Walbeek met with the private sector tourism industry officials and Nepal Tourism Board. Copies of the PATA As per the PATA officials, Nepal Tourism Rapid Recovery Task Force Plan, Report and Recommendations will be made available in the coming days, together with a PATA Certificate of Recognition for the participants of the Task Force for contribution.
